Radnorshire Wildlife Trust's work with Water. Including the River Wye: Save the Wye campaign, Citizen Science Monitoring, Supermarket AGMs, Wye react to Climate Change programme. River Lugg: Wilder Lugg Project, work at Pentwyn Farm. Wetlands: Rhos Pasture Project, Managing wetland reserves, Abercamblo Bog, Burfa Bog, Gorse Farm, Llancwchllyn Lake, Pentrosfa Mire, Werndryd, Withybeds and part of Pentwyn Farm.

The Wilder Communities project focuses on empowering communities to take action for nature. Through work with community groups, charities and local people, we can provide support and advise on the best ways to manage land for the benefit of biodiversity and increase the nature network throughout the county. We can give opportunities for local people to learn and gain training on the techniques to monitor wildlife so that they can gain confidence in conservation techniques and witness the positive affects of the steps that they are making. This project is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and the Ashley Family Foundation.

Our part-time trainee scheme enables people with no previous experience or qualifications to join our team and our volunteers, to develop hands-on practical experience, campaigning and digital communication experience, and vital professional skills to help take that first step to a career in conservation. Please be aware that this is a voluntary role.

There's no age-limit - whether you're a career-changer or fresh out of university, if you're passionate about developing the skills needed for a career in conservation, this might be for you!

Nature needs us now more than ever. The scale of the task can often seem overwhelming, it requires policy change and work at a landscape scale. And whilst it can often feel out of our control, there are things that each one of us can do to make Radnorshire better for nature, ourselves, and our community. We must remember that people have power, especially when we come together, build momentum and act to make positive change.

We understand that not everyone is ready, able, or inclined to fundraise for community land or start a new community group. For those who are, we are here, ready to support them.



Nextdoor Nature is bringing communities together to help nature flourish where they live and work! Thanks to £5million funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Nextdoor Nature will provide people with the advice and support they need to help nature on their doorstep, and leave a lasting natural legacy in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Every one of us can make a difference to bring back nature and tackle climate change by taking small actions that add up to big changes. We're excited to support communities to do just this with the launch of Nextdoor Nature - a grassroots programme of transformational micro-projects designed to help nature thrive. Nextdoor Nature is a UK wide project between The National Lottery Heritage Fund and The Wildlife Trusts, here is Radnorshire we are working with communities in Llandrindod Wells, Knighton & Presteigne to improve spaces for nature and for people.
