Wilder Pentwyn is a project funded for two years by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, thanks to National Lottery players. The project aims to protect, restore and share natural heritage knowledge at Pentwyn Farm.

The Wilder Communities project focuses on empowering communities to take action for nature. Through work with community groups, charities and local people, we can provide support and advise on the best ways to manage land for the benefit of biodiversity and increase the nature network throughout the county. We can give opportunities for local people to learn and gain training on the techniques to monitor wildlife so that they can gain confidence in conservation techniques and witness the positive affects of the steps that they are making. This project is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and the Ashley Family Foundation.

The vision is of a thriving Wilder Marches where people who know and love the land can make a good living and produce food whilst playing a key role in nature’s recovery, and where our wildlife and natural habitats play a valued role in addressing the climate and ecological emergencies.

The Welsh Beaver Project has been investigating the feasibility of bringing wild beavers back to Wales since 2005. This work is being led by North Wales Wildlife Trust on behalf of all five Wildlife Trusts in Wales as part of our Living Landscapes strategy.
