We’re taking part in Earth Raise 2026, a nationwide fundraising campaign run by Big Give where donations will be doubled during Earth Week (22nd – 29th of April). We urgently need to raise 7k during these 7 days, which will be doubled to 14K through Big Give.
Double the donation, Double the difference!
We’ve been generously gifted Rhosgoch, a rare species-rich wildflower meadow. But we cannot take it on without securing funds for its ongoing management. We’re raising funds, so that we can protect this vital habitat for pollinators and other wildlife, manage it sustainably, and create a nature reserve that the local community can enjoy.
Situation
Flower-rich meadows in the UK have declined by 98% in the last century, leaving remaining habitats small, fragmented and vulnerable. Radnorshire has very few hay meadows left, making them a priority for conservation. The Rhosgoch meadow is one of these rare habitats.
Solution
We will protect Rhosgoch by securing the base funding needed to manage it as a species-rich meadow in perpetuity. Through sensitive grazing and traditional hay-cutting, we will prevent damaging practices and enhance biodiversity. By opening the site for quiet public access, we will help people experience first-hand the value of these rare habitats and build long-term support for their protection.
More information about Rhosgoch
It is located between Painscastle and Rhosgoch. We're currently calling it Rhosgoch Meadow due to its proximity to the nearby village, though we hope to give the site a proper name in time, chosen together with the local community once the land is officially ours.
We're not quite ready to share the exact location just yet, as the site is in the process of being gifted to us.
Come summer, Rhosgoch Meadow truly comes into its own, bursting into a rich tapestry of wildflowers that transforms the landscape into a haven for wildlife.
