Save the Wye Postcard Campaign

Rivers are our lifeblood

Send your MS a postcard!

Cleaning up the River Wye catchment is a key part of our strategy. Our overarching asks are:

  • Enforce the law - We want to see existing standards and targets properly enforced by the regulators across the entire catchment.
  • A moratorium on any new chicken sheds in the Wye catchment until the problem is ‘sorted’ local authorities, government and the food system all have a responsibility in this.
  • A vision for a healthy and vibrant catchment to build support and help drive investment to create this - We need to start building a catchment that is resilient and nature rich for future generations.

Send your MS a postcard

If you live in Wales, your constituent Member of Senedd can help to #SavetheWye. We need you to ask the Senedd to restore nature today by sending a postcard that will land on the doormat of their office.

The water quality issues on the Wye affect both Wales and England. If you live outside of Wales, you can still support our campaigning efforts! Use our template letter to write to your MP and speak up for the Wye! Click here.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find out who my MS is?

Once you have selected your postcard design, you will be redirected to the PostBug platform to select your constituent MS and fill out your campaign postcard. When prompted, just type in your postcode and then the platform will auto-fill your postcard with the details of the constituent MS for your region.

If you would like more details of your constituent or regional MSs then you can search for your Members of the Senedd here.

How will my postcard be sent?

Once you have filled in your postcard it will appear as 'pending' on the platform which we are using, which is called PostBug. Someone from our team will then check your postcard and approve it on PostBug as soon as possible. A postcard will then be sent directly to the office doorstep of your constituent MS.

What will happen after my postcard is sent?

When your constituent Member of Senedd reads your postcard, they will also be able to follow a link to find out exactly what Radnorshire Wildlife Trusts' campaign asks are. We will follow this up by writing directly to the MSs and requesting a meeting to discuss the issues further and how we can help them to save the Wye.

We hope that Welsh Government will respond to your concerns and will take appropriate, urgent action. The new Agriculture (Wales) Bill provides the unique opportunity to deliver this essential change.

We will continue to speak out for the river and its wildlife until appropriate action is committed to by the Welsh Government.

If you opt in to hear more from us, we will keep you updated on any progress with the campaign.

Why target constituent Members of the Senedd?

We have decided to focus our postcard campaign on constituent MSs, however we also encourage you to email/write to regional MSs, who are equally important decision makers within the Senedd. You could also write to/ email your MP to raise the issues on the Wye to the UK Government rather than just Welsh Government. Find out more here

The UK Parliament has devolved power to the Senedd in certain areas. Welsh issues that the Senedd can legislate on include the environment. MSs make decisions and pass legislation on these devolved matters – either as part of the Welsh Government, or as the opposition scrutinising them. This means that they can bring about significant change.

MSs are elected to represent and act on the behalf of their constituents, so will always want to hear from you!

Is it possible to fill out and send a postcard offline?

Our postcard campaign is being hosted online using the PostBug platform. However, hard copy postcards will also be available to pick up from our shop in Llandrindod Wells, which is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 am - 12pm. In this case, you would need to send the postcard yourself and we would not cover the postage.

Address: Warwick House, High St, Llandrindod Wells LD1 6AG

Alternatively, you could just write a letter to your Member of the Senedd. Find your MS here.

Can I support the campaign if I don't live in Wales?

The Senedd is the Welsh Parliament, therefore you can only send a postcard to an MS if you live in Wales. If you live outside of Wales then you can still support our campaign by contacting your MP with our overarching campaign asks. Find more information here.
