LATEST UPDATE - The return of the salmon! Two sightings from waterfall viewpoint of resting and leaping salmon 25th & 26th October 2017.

The Atlantic salmon return to Gilfach Nature Reserve around mid-November and attempt to leap the Marteg Falls to get back to their spawning ground.

If River Marteg is in spate (flood) then you're not going to see the salmon jumping. When river levels drop, then this is an optimum time to catch a glimpse. Please come prepared for the weather and a wait.

There is a purpose built platform to help visitors to see this amazing spectacle.  Please take care on approaching platform and whilst on platform at all times.
